Space Adventures

Pippin Class visited We The Curious in Bristol to explore and learn more about space. When we arrived, we explored some 'air' exhibits, where air is used to move objects such as balls, parachutes and hot air balloons.

After that, we went to the planetarium to climb aboard a spaceship and travel into space. We met Boogle Woogle, an alien who needed us to help him find a new home in space. We explored lots of different planets, including Venus and discussed their different features and what makes them a good home. After having our lunch, we continued to explore the museum, looking at bubbles, animations and more! It was a lot of fun.

Before we headed home, we took part in a workshop with one of the museum's educators. At the beginning of the workshop, we designed a rocket and then used an air pump to make it fly. We talked about fins and their shapes, considering how we could make them fly. Then a problem struck! We needed to fix the solar panels on the ISS by going out into space. We didn't have a spacesuit to wear, so we had to use our knowledge of materials to create one. It was a brilliant experience.
