KS2 Carymoor Survivors

Our key stage 2 pupils recently took part in an exciting and enriching Survival Day at Carymoor Environmental Trust. The day provided a fantastic opportunity for children to develop practical outdoor skills, teamwork and resilience in a real-life context.

Throughout the day, pupils worked collaboratively to build shelters, learn fire-lighting techniques, read maps, filter water and explore how to survive in the natural environment. They demonstrated excellent problem-solving skills, communication and perseverance, particularly when faced with new and challenging tasks.

The experience also supported our wider curriculum, linking closely to our work on natural disasters and the survival guides that pupils are writing in English lessons.  Pupils returned to school inspired, with a deeper understanding of how to stay safe in different environments and a wealth of ideas to support their writing.
