Pippin Class immersed themselves in all things Brazil, during their Blooming Brazil hook day. The children began the day using atlases to identify Brazil and the surrounding countries on their maps. Afterwards, the children helped to make Brigadeiro – a traditional Brazilian dessert. The children really enjoyed mixing the chocolate and rolling their truffles in chocolate sprinkles. The children wrote up their instructions so that they could make them at home with their families.
Whilst they were cooling, we learnt some samba dance moves, before trying them out with samba music. We have some super dancers!
Later in the day, we learnt all about Brazilian carnivals and how they are celebrated. We then created our own carnival masks and had a carnival in the classroom to showcase them. We rounded off the day by learning some Portuguese. We practised with our partners, saying 'hello', 'how are you?' and responding. Some children even learnt how to count to 10!
What a fabulous day!
