Wellbeing at Lovington

At Lovington Primary School, we are committed to improving and nourishing the wellbeing of all our children.

Wellbeing at Lovington is at the forefront of the school's drive to promote and support mental health. The wellbeing of staff, children and parents is important to us as a school, and we work hard to create systems, resources and support for wellbeing and mental health. 

What happens in school?

In school, we teach all children about what it means to have good mental health and wellbeing throughout our curriculum and daily practice. Our PSHE curriculum focusses specifically on developing children’s social and emotional skills, which can prevent poor mental health from developing and help all children to cope effectively with setbacks. It is about helping children to understand and manage their thoughts, feelings and behaviour, building skills and resilience that help them to thrive.

Who can I talk to if I have concerns?

If you have concerns about your child's mental health and wellbeing, then there are a range of people you can speak to.

As a school, we have a Wellbeing Lead: Mrs Small, as well as other staff, who are specially trained in other areas such as ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant). 

Wellbeing Ambassadors

Wellbeing ambassadors have been selected across the school, they welcome children at the gate each morning, whilst our playground buddies ensure that all children are included and treated well. Our wellbeing ambassadors and our playground buddies aim to represent our children’s voices too in all matters of wellbeing.
