Today we celebrated VE Day, we started with a whole school worship, learning about the day and what it represented. We heard about soldiers from Castle Cary. Mrs Small even showed us their houses, which still stand today and laid two certificates of remembrance on our VE Day display table.
Each class participated in a range of activities, including analysing photographs and videos to understand what they tell us about people's emotions and experiences, hearing personal stories and writing letters as if we had been stood in their shoes.
In the afternoon, we created some wonderful pieces of artwork inspired by VE Day. We also created a camouflaged soldier made up of helmets, decorated by each pupil in our school.
What a brilliant day we have had!
