  • Oracy

At Lovington Primary School we provide a wide range of speaking and listening opportunities for our children. Oracy is the use spoken language to develop understanding, articulate ideas, and engage with others. We know that oracy is widely recognised to boost engagement and attainment.  We encourage all our children to actively participate in all their learning experiences whilst learning and having the opportunity to express themselves clearly and respectfully.

Engaging in high-quality oracy practices deepens understanding and is linked with greater knowledge retention, vocabulary acquisition and reasoning skills. Good oracy skills support wider literacy skills; we know that improvement in oracy is linked to improvements in reading, writing, and overall attainment.
