Pippin Class headed into the great outdoors for their autumnal wellie walk. We had great fun looking at all the beautiful leaves that are changing colour, and spotting other signs of autumn like conkers and apples on trees. We even found a muddy patch that was brilliant to squelch and squish in!
This week Pippin Class were lucky enough to have a visit from our local PCSO team. The children thoroughly enjoyed learning about the important roles our local police officers play in keeping our community safe.
They were fascinated to explore the different pieces of equipment officers use and even had the exciting opportunity to hear a radio message!
It was wonderful on Friday morning, to have the school community come together to join us for our Harvest Service.
Pippin Class shone brightly with their Big Red Combine Harvester whilst the older children read their poems and prayers beautifully.
Last week, our range of after-school clubs began, filled with lots of enthusiastic children.
Cookery club baked cinnamon and apple rolls using puff pastry. The children used a range of equipment, including pastry brushes and graters, whilst learning new skills like handling pastry.

We are delighted to announce that Lovington C of E Primary School, have achieved the School Games Silver Mark Award for the 2024/25 academic year.
The School Games Mark is a Government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
Our Key Stage Two girls enjoyed an afternoon of cricket today, thanks to Amber and Niamh, from the Somerset Cricket Foundation, who came to school to share their knowledge and skills and promote girls' cricket.
Before half-term, we visited our local church, St Thomas A Becket in Lovington. Miss Payne kindly shared with us some of the church's history, including when it was built, how it was originally a Roman Catholic church and how many villagers used it in Medieval times.
We learned about the altar, pews, baptism roll, font, as well as looking at some of the architecture like the roses around the main door. We even got to play the organ!
As part of our recent Design and Technology project, Pippin Class were tasked with designing and making their own glove puppet. Before we could start making them, the children had to learn how to sew, which was a new skill for many. The children learnt how to over stitch and also create a running stitch - it took a lot of practice!
What a wonderful day we had on at for our May Fayre. The sun shone brightly whilst we all enjoyed maypole and country dancing, face painting, archery, splat-a-rat, hook a duck, coconut throws, the birds of prey as well as delicious cakes and a very popular BBQ.
It was wonderful to see us all come together and enjoy such a fabulous day. Thank you to everyone that came along and supported our school.
Today we celebrated VE Day, we started with a whole school worship, learning about the day and what it represented. We heard about soldiers from Castle Cary. Mrs Small even showed us their houses, which still stand today and laid two certificates of remembrance on our VE Day display table.
Bramley and Russet Class began their first week back to school after the Easter break, with a visit to The Royal Bath and West Showground for the annual Field to Food Event. The children had a wonderful day exploring all aspects of farming. This included sheep shearing, wool spinning, living hazel hedging and milking. They enjoyed various food tastings, learnt how to deliver a calf and thoroughly enjoyed watching a gun dog display. The children also saw lambs, piglets and some very large tractors.
