Bath and West Field to Food

Bramley and Russet Class began their first week back to school after the Easter break, with a visit to The Royal Bath and West Showground for the annual Field to Food Event. The children had a wonderful day exploring all aspects of farming. This included sheep shearing, wool spinning, living hazel hedging and milking. They enjoyed various food tastings, learnt how to deliver a calf and thoroughly enjoyed watching a gun dog display. The children also saw lambs, piglets and some very large tractors.

Thank you to the Bath and West for providing such a fabulous day!

This week Pippin Class had a visit from Yeovilton's Royal Navy STEM team. Tom and Sam came in to speak to us about flight and how planes fly. We learnt about planes' drag, thrust, lift and weight and got to build our very own gliders to demonstrate the forces.

We also learnt about how the rotor blades work on a helicopter by watching a remote-control helicopter. It was amazing to see the forces in action!

They also shared lots of interesting facts about their jobs, including how they got started in Avionics.
